Conference Description

The GPSA Vice President organizes the preliminary program from the accepted proposals. Panels and roundtables are assembled from the accepted proposals and individual papers. Seven sessions of four concurrent panels each are spread over two days. Three to five presentations are assigned to each panel.

The last annual meeting attracted 200 participants from Georgia, other U.S. states, and overseas. Although political scientists are in the majority, the conference is definitely interdisciplinary. Since 1968, participants have included political scientists, historians, economists, humanists, sociologists, criminologists, anthropologists, public administrators, philosophers, students, interested non-academics and many others.

The Criminal Justice Association of Georgia meets jointly with the GPSA.

If you have a proposal, please submit it. The GPSA will give your proposal fair and careful consideration.

Whether you wish to make a presentation or to simply attend the conference, you are most welcome. Please submit the registration form. Please note that the GPSA must receive a panel participant's registration form and fees by October 20, 2008 or the participant will be dropped from the program.

The McBrayer Award and an accompanying $500.00 cash prize will be awarded in years when a paper of outstanding scholarship within the discipline is presented in its entirety on the GPSA annual meeting program and subsequently recognized as such at the discretion of the Editorial Board and Editor-in-Chief of the Proceedings of the GPSA by their decision to bestow the McBrayer Award.

Please note that each attendee is responsible for all of his expenses related to the conference. The GPSA does not fund attendees.

The only invitation that the GPSA issues for groups, individuals or other entities is the general Call for Presentations and the Conference Registration Form posted on this web site. It is the sole responsibility of attendees or participants to make their own travel arrangements and meet all governmental requirements to attend our conference.
